Are you really using your strengths?

Do you feel anxious at work? Are you tense almost all the time? Does the approach of Monday mornings make you nervous?
If this is how you feel, then you are not working with your strengths. In fact, you’re far from it. Because if you work with your strengths, everything will feel easy.

Now here is an interesting fact: we all think we know our strengths. But the truth is that we rarely really know our true strengths. Our strengths are coming to us naturally. We don’t have to work hard for it. If we work with our strengths, we feel energized and stay motivated. And because it feels so easy to us, it doesn’t feel as if it is something special. Something special that we do good, and others not. And therefore it takes the people around us, to truly see what our talents are. They see what we can do easily because they have to put in extra effort to get the same result.

So, how will you find out what your strengths are then?

Well, you can of course ask all your colleagues, friends and peers: “what am I good at”? However, they may be taken aback by this question and will be like “Really? Don’t you know”?

Luckily, there is another way to test your strengths. And that is to do the free test called High5test*. This will give you your five top strengths. The top 5 are the most important ones for you and are a clear indicator of what type of strengths come naturally to you. And you know if you are in a position where you are using these strengths, cause you’ll feel energized, motivated and happy to be at work.

Realizing how often you are using your strengths

When you are frustrated at work, your first port of call is to figure out if you are actually using your strengths. And you can do that by simply keeping a tally. For a week, just keep a tally to truly see whether you are actually using your strengths. And when you see the result of that tally, you have the answer to these most important question: “Am I really using my strengths”? If the answer is “no”, ask yourself the following: “Am I not fully using my strengths because there’s no opportunity for me to really employ them”?

When the answer is “yes” to that question, if there is no room in your position to fully make use of your strengths, then you’ll know: that is the reason why you’re so frustrated.

Fortunately, now that you know this, you can do something about this! And do you want to know what you can do about it? Well here’s the cool thing, I have this great course called Your Strength Roadmap. Being aware of your strengths is step 1, truly making your strengths work for you, is step 2! And that is what you’ll learn in this course. It will teach you all about what your strengths are and how you can fully use them to get into that position you really want!
